Hello Sausages
Hi Everyone,
I can't remember where I left you all, was it in Cairns... not to sure.
So, right, where do I start -
We arrived in Cairns for my birthday and I had a fabulous night, we all had dinner in a restaurant called Fasta Pasta with wine then it was down to the Woolshed for a party. I got drunk with several tequilas and cheap, cheap wine that I actually didn't buy because everyone else brought them for me (result). I felt homesick; I missed my Sister and friends at home.
We then went up to Cape Tribulation and spent 2 nights in the Rainforest, it was nice but if you wanted to see alot of wildlife you had to pay $50 for night walks so we just caught up on sleep and relaxed. As part of the package we had a cruise on the Daintree River and saw several Crocodiles, and we had an organised tour through the Rainforest so we did something. We then went to Port Douglas for an hour then it was back to Cairns, where the party started again - the Woolshed is an EVIL place! However, we also had a day cruise booked for the Sat, so I took it easy, as I wanted to do some diving on the Great Barrier Reef. We nearly missed the boat the next morning, we were 15 minutes late and they didn't want to wait for much longer, I was so glad we didn't miss it, we had a fabulous day and I did 2 dives and swam with Turtles it was out of this world, it cost me 90 dollars in total which is about 40 quid so I went away a happy girl, I really want to get my Padi certificate in diving now.
So we decided to leave Cairns and move onto Darwin, we brought tents and sleeping bags, we filled our little car and we were off - Outback here we come... so for 4 days and 4 nights we camped (3 in a tent), we had to borrow other peoples cooking utensils as we didn't have any of our own (we were not that prepared), we met some funny Australians in the camp sites and we met some very strange Australians in Outback pubs - they get stranger the further North you go - especially the men. We travelled approx 600k per day with David and I both driving, it was boring after a while, once one Road Train has passed you the excitement of the outback disappears, I drove on alot of the dirt roads were there is only one lane, so when you see someone coming you have to pull over to the side of the dirt road - especially if it's a road train. We went to several remote towns where the majority of the population living there were Aboriginals so that was interesting but honestly there is nothing for miles when you drive, it's SO hot and there is nothing as far as the eye can see - it's scary especially if your car is over heating like ours was.
However we survived, all was going well. We stopped off for the night at a place which had natural Thermal Springs near Darwin, there were loads of Kangaroos their, it was gorgeous, completely natural, then the next morning TRAGEDY!!! I was driving along at 8.00am and what happened to jump out on me - a Kangaroo, I didn't even have time to try and not hit it, it bounced out and caught the left light and went under the car, oh how I cried, it died instantly but it was the first thing I'd every knocked over and I was in bits because of it. The boys went and moved it from the middle of the road and so we had to carry on.
So we arrived in Darwin a week ago - it's hot very hot, and I've been ill, to the point where I was forced to go to the doctors by the pharmacist (who wouldn't give me anymore cold and flu tablets because they were not helping), I got Antibiotics and am feeling a bit better now so all is good. I had a job interview with Woolworths (the supermarket - yes I am going to become a trolley dolly for a month) which went well and I got called back for a second interview tomorrow so I'll let you know.
I've had a great couple of days here, chilling out on the beach, going to the Markets, watching the fabulous sunsets - AMAZING. Last night I went to the Market with this Irish girl who's in my room, we ate so much and saw this Band called EM DE, this guy places 4 didgeridoos in a kind of dance like rythmn he has a drummer and he mixes - oh my god it's brilliant, I am going to spread the word in England when I get there it was amazing, I also saw a great fire show which reminded me of Sara (Ibiza - xx).
At the moment I'm thinking of going to Melbourne then back to Sydney for work as I know I can get alot better money in Sydney and I miss alot of the people who I met there. Darwin is nice but a bit boring. I'm getting a bit bored with hanging round the boys as all they do is take the piss out of me (in a nice way but there is only so much I can take) and I've been travelling with them for 2 months now, it'll be nice travelling by myself again. Am feeling excited about that - I love travelling alone (sometimes).
Love to you all. I miss you very much.
Love you guys.
