So, Fraser Island was great! What fun you can have camping with strangers! Really good group, and such an amazing place. Worlds largest sand island so EVERYTHING was completely covered in sand. Cooking, sleeping and living in the wild makes such a nice change. Went to Lake Mackenzie which had the most amazingly blue clear water you could swin in, spotted Whales and Dolphins off Indian Heads, saw wild turtles at Lake Allom and swan in lake Wabbie too. Had a go at driving 4wd style off roading which was great fun, and now I have serious amunition to borrow the Freelander when I return to Warsash! All in all well worth the money and time. Back at Rainbow Beach we had a "debrief BBQ" and drank the remainder of the Goon. Good times.
Left the gang (sad times) and went to Hervey Bay to go Whale watching. Saw LOADS of Humpbacks everywhere! They were jumping about and going mad, came right up to the boat and I was amazed how big they were! Was expensive but worth it. Back at the Hostel went on a moped ride with an Ozzie guy to explore the rest of the bay, which didn't take long! Not alot there, but I did get attacked by an Ibis. Not good.
Then a mamouth overnight 13 hours bus journey to Airlie Beach. As soon as I got off the bus saw two of the Fraser gang - Sophie and Dave again! Its a small backpacking world! Got a last minuite deal on a Whitsundays trip leaving tomorrow for 2 days, 2 nights, and again attempting to decide how much beer to buy! Off for a few drinks with the crew tonight, but let the sailing boat times roll. There are only 14 of us on board, so should be a nice time. I'll write a again when I'm back!
