Oh my Vegas. Where to start. Flew in from San Francisco with a god almighty hangover (thanks Sanam!) and was really quite sick on the plane. Worst flight ever. Arrived in one peice just, flying over the dessert and into Vegas was amazing! Hostel was a bit crappy, a short bus ride away from the strip and full of some not very friendly backpackers- good job I only slpet there really as there was SOOOOO much to do!!
Lets talk Casino's first. They were really quite huge. Went to the Venitian, New York New Yorks and Ceasars - which were okay but being European I'm thinking if you wanted to see these places for real you would just go to Venice right? I was slated for saying this to other tourists, but as amazing as they were I feel I was right.
My favourites were the Pink Flamingo and the Mirage. Flamingo was awesome as they let me use their pool and gave me free drinks even though I obviously wan't staying there. It was cringe-ing-ly cheesy, but thats what I expected from Vegas!! Mirage was much classier- I put $2 in a slot machine and got $10 out! This was amazing as I had no idea what I was doing, but I then later put it all back in as though I had some kind of magic touch. Probably only gambled about a tenner in all though. Good stuff.
Nevada is a crazy kind of place- everything is legal! You can smoke anywhere, walk down the street with drinks in your hand, prostitution is legal, noone really cares! This explained why the tourist man told me in 2008 they had more visitors than Mecca! Pretty impressive! I found buy one get one frees on 99 cent frozen Margaritas, so needless to say that was me happy for the majority of the time, if not a little drunk!
Saw The Mirage Volcano explode, the Priate show (that was wicked!) and the fountains at the Belagio. They were all very Vegas! After seeing the pirate show I had my photo taken with Jack Black, and when I eventually get them on Facebook you will see I look really quite smashed. Oh well!!
Spent a day at the Grand Canyon. 4 hour drive each way which was a bit of a mission- but we got 3 hours there and boy, was it worth it!! My photos have come out really well and it literally took my breath away, I just can't describe it. Almost pushed an 18 year old over the edge though, as he said to me "Right, I have my Facebook profile picture, I'm bored can we go now?" Bloody kids.
Last thing I did in Vegas was meet up with ex-Jurys Mr Steve Hendon for a good old chin wag and drinky. I love that boy. I'm sure he will have an amazing time in Vegas for the week, and we shall meet up soon I promise love XXX
Now, I'm in San Diego after another hideous bus ride (7 hours this time). Today checked out the "old town"... very wild west. Went across the border to Tijuana... only stayed about 2 hours! What a difference a border makes! Nasty Spanish perverts and push sales men with useless tourist stalls!
Return to LA tomorrrow evening, the New Zealand on Monday!!
