Cruising the Fjords....
From leaving Russia i set off through Finland to visit Jens and Gunn who i met at Murmansk. Amazing couple, had a fantastic time with them. Caught fish, drank beer, worked on the bike, relazed and enjoyed being warm for a change! Ended up staying for 5 days all up. During this time i did make a day trip up to Nordkapp, the northern most point of the mainland. Basically it was cold and wet with lots of fog so there really wasnt much to see.
Left Alta on Monday morning and set off south. Freezing cold (temp between +3 C and +5 C max during the day, colder at night. Ended up using plastic bags then dishwashing gloves to help keep my hands warm, and a chocolate bar wrapper round my neck to keep the neck warmer dry! Fairly cold nights but I had one clear night and was treated to a view of the Northern Lights. Very cool to be out in the middle of nowhere by myself and see them.
The Fjords really are amazing and the views are stunning. The roads are long and winding and there are lots of ferries to catch across the gaps between them. They are basically a mountain range that springs up from the ocean. Fuel here is expensive. Everyone complains about the cost in australia but here it is about 3 AUD/ Litre! Im camping every night to keep costs down and cooking all my food.
Last night i saw the most amazing sunset, check out the pics :) Heading south now to hopefully find a job! Not work again!
