This blog began as a record of our fantastic journeys from August of 2011 until January of 2012. Mick was on his own from August until October, and Anne joined in the fun from October 7. While Mick was away the following year, he decided he might just as well add to it.
For the grand tour in 2011, we saw parts of Fiji, the US, Canada, Malta, Italy and Vietnam. We walked, and looked and walked and cooked and ate and ate and walked and looked ... and we hope learned a little along the…

Subsequent to this, there have been a few shorter trips: Mick to the US and Canada, November 2012, Mick to Malaysia: December 2012. This time though, we're BOTH going - and Northern Italy is our main destination.

Good blogging Mick. It takes quite an effort to keep it going. It would of course be axiomatic that all avid readers appreciated the fine descriptions, more than occasional use of poetic language, statistics, and the occasional colloquialism. My personal favourite was of the day of the cheese tour in Bologna. That was a fine description of a great day - I could almost see and taste. Cheers

Ah surely Mick. All readers of your blogg would be avid. Axiomatic. Heard so many stories of Dubai in the desert and all the aircon, shops, and compounds. But as my urban geography used to lecture - all urban environments are artificial. Dubai has made an art of it so it seems. Great photo of the bakery. And interesting juxtaposition with all the development. Getting to work this week is going to hurt!!

The indulging in local delicacies and lots of walking sounds like a perfect balance to me. And Dubai will be very interesting. Business class - very swish!

I refuse to total the $$ for food wine and coffee - but you topped our best for two coffees - our top was $24 here in the French Concession!!

Yes - just how lovely is lake Como and how righty you pay some attention to the geology. Poets have been inspired by this lake and novels set there and you can see why. If I had to produce a list of the top ten lakes in the world this would be one of the first on the list after Hallstadt.
