My oh my.... we landed safely and what can I say the trip is already eventful.
We started with a bottle of Champagne in London to mark the momentous occasion when we arrived at Heathrow on Wednesday we both could just feel the stress leaving our bodies which was great.
Delhi is something where Rose is somewhat of a celebrity (she's not loving the hair but the Indians are). We have taken the metro for 8 Rupees (about 10 pence) into the posh bit of Delhi (it's not that posh) as opposed to the tourist taxi which would have cost 200 Rupees (do the maths, still a bargain). We dined at the corner cafe where the locals eat we had Paneer Tikka and Roti Spring roles for 2 quid, saw an Indian Wedding in the street complete with Bangra drums and handheld lights, which are generator driven (on a truck, making almost as much noise as the drums).
We visited a local cafe with some real dodgy gangster looking locals. A big fight almost set off after the waiter attempted to get us a chair from the folks that were watching the cricket. We had a wail of a time. After that we had some more snacks from the local eatery and went back into the hotel. There we met a Norwegian couple and had a wee party in the very dry rooftop bar but we managed to bribe the waiter to get us Indian Beer: went to bed at 3.30am (local time) so our heads hurt a little and we need to drink a lot of water today.
Tomorrow we are off to Kathmandu, Nepal to see how far up base camp Everest we can get without passing out with altitude sickness so we will be off the Radar for a while probably until around end of Nov. Rose will be spending her birthday in the mountains how awesome is that:-) See what eventful stories we bring back when we update our blog next time.
