Our adventure in Colonia was beautiful. The quaint little town was the best getaway for a group of tired young adults. It contrasted nicely with the fast-paced lifestyle of BsAs.
We arrived by ferry. A huge ferry. There was a full store on the first floor lol. I think I'd like to live near a body of water one day. It's refreshing. Our first stop in the country (after immigration of course) was the dock. On the way there, we passed a gang of dogs chasing another dog. Like an actual gang. There was a leader, guys. (We later named him Hombre lol.) It looked like the lone dog had crossed territories and was being "asked" to leave.
We took pictures at the dock and noticed the dogs had shown up. We all really enjoy dogs so we thought they were cute, but kinda rude. We left the dock to begin our walking tour of the city (it took like 10 minutes) and the dogs followed us. Actually, they surrounded us. Any vehicle or non-human object that came close to us was barked at and chased. They even latched onto a few unlucky cars and nipped at some bikers. However, they were like puppies with us. They followed behind us for the first few hours. They waited for us outside of stores, restaurants, etc. If one of us stopped to take a picture, one would wait with us or nudge us to keep going.
Later, after lunch, we split up. I went with the group that did the bus tour because I was tired of walking lol. One of the dogs stayed with us until the bus came and another joined.
At the end of our bus tour we stopped at a tiny feria. The guys came across another dog and he tried to follow us, but we told him he needed to stay there. The other dogs were mean when together and my friend said he didn't want this dog to get hurt. That dog hung out with us at the beach for a while then we said our goodbyes.
A few minutes after we got back, Hombre found us lol. He stayed with us until he laid down outside of a store to take a nap. We said bye and he walked off down the street. Then at the bus stop, the rest of our group showed up with a different dog. He was sweet. One of the guys told him to get on the bus with us and he did haha. The driver wasn't too happy though, and our advisor told him he had to leave. Sadly, he stepped down.
I took a bunch of pictures, so you'll get to see where we were. In the above picture of me, Travis had just finished talking. I was smiling then I spoke and made this face lol. Oh well. Today was so relaxing.
The ferry ride back is going to feel longer. Time to sleep.
Besos!
