Day 2 - Today everyone woke up feeling relaxed after such a big couple of days - we had croissants for breakfast ready to start our new day seeing the sights of Rome.
We started the tour walking to the Termini, where we caught a train to Spana to see the Spanish steps and Fonta di Spagna. We then walked to the Fontana di Trevi - the fountain of love - where if your threw in a coin, it meant that you would return back to Rome, if you threw two coins, it meant that you would find your true love , and if you threw three coins it meant you would end up in divorce. Guess how many coins Mr Debrincat threw?….. 2 coins - lol. Mr and Mrs Depalo threw 1 coin each to return to Rome one day, as they had already found true love with each other - awe. Many of the students needed a quick bite to eat and quickly followed signs of the golden arches to McDonalds - what we found interesting was that they sold beer at Mc Donald's.
The boys were very interested in finding the Roma store (a soccer store) where they wanted to purchase soccer memorabilia. We then made our way to the Pantheon. This place was amazing -when inside the church, there was a hole in the middle, capturing all the nature light and weather.
We then strolled down to a market Piazza Navona, where the students quickly learnt how to haggle the locals for a pair of sunglasses. They did extremely well at this - they were able to get them down from 10 Euro to 5 Euro. Many of the students looked around the markets were they purchased a beautiful fruit salad.
We then continued our walk to the Colosseum where we met our tour guide Francesco. He took us to see the Roman Forum, the Arch of Constantine and a walk through the Colosseum. This tour was amazing, with so much history.
The students returned back to the hotel, feeling worn out and tired from a big day of activities. They freshened up and went out for dinner at a fine Italian restaurant where we ate lasagne, baked potatoes with rosemary and salad - and for dessert they had the choice of lemon cake, tiramisu or fruit salad.
