Day 10
We arrived in Salzburg Austria at 4.04am. We were greeted by our tour guide Achim at the train station. Boarded a coach to our hotel and slept in the lobby till approximately 7am whilst waiting for our rooms to be ready. Believe it or not it was more comfortable than the train. Sleeping on the train was strange as we had triple bunk bedrooms on each side with a total of six people as well as all the luggage in a confined space, built similar to submarine conditions. We went to McDonalds for breakfast and slept some more until we were asked to move upstairs away from all the customers. Today we started our tour by visiting Mozart's birth place. The city of Salzburg is beautiful. It is similar to Florence, but not so busy. The students were able to have a pretzel or two. This was a hit!!!! We returned back to the hotel for a well-deserved rest. Many of the students did a bit of shopping at Hofer (Aldi) which they were very excited about. Many of them were so impressed with how cheap the groceries were. We went to dinner at 6pm and enjoyed a traditional Austrian meal. We are now in our rooms ready for bed.
Tomorrow we will be visiting where they made the movie the Sound of Music - the hills are alive with the sound of music.....
