Hi Everyone,
As usual I will begin with a simple apology for being so slack in keeping you updated. I really have no excuse other than I have been too busy having fun and seeing the world. Since I last updated you I have spent two weeks in Egypt with mum doing a group tour and I have now commenced my european leg.
Egypt was really cool, for one it was great to have mum there (although at times frustrating) and it was also really cool to be see alot of the stuff that we learnt about at school. We also has some really cool people on our tour which helped make the experience an enjoyable one. I wont go into alot of detail about what we seen and did but will just give you a few highlights as I cant really remember what we actaully did.
Egypt reeally took me by suprise I was expecting it to be more similar to India but it was really different. Cairo was a busy place with crazy traffic and it is really westernised. The first night was spent at the Marriot Hotel which was better then brilliant, it was by far the nicest place I have ever seen!! You will need to see the photos to get an idea, but the bed was so comfy I wanted to stay in there for a week!! The hotel even had its own casino which mum and I visited after breakfast. During our first cab ride we seen a young boy get hit by a bus, wasnt a very pleasant introduction to Cairo, but he was okay.
We then joined our tour which would take us all over egypt. Sever nights of our tour were spent staying on a cruiseboat called Melodie which went up and down the Nile which was cool, the crew were also great. We had an Egyptian night which was great fun, we all went out shopping for traditional outfits and got some really cool getups (again you will need to see the photos). We then had an egyptian feast, alot of drinks and danced the night away. When the night started to die down myself and my new found buddy Neroli decided to go boat hopping to find another party. We thought it would be difficult to get onto the boats but we had no problem at all (we were still dressed up at this stage). The first boat was a french boat with mostly european guests. We walked in and went straight to the dancefloor and didnt realise at the time that we had walked into the middle of a game. This only became obvious when a group of 5 people pounced on us....it was a paring up game. Funny thing is I came forth, and could have had a place on the podium but conceeded out of guilt (we were in fact crasing their party), so that was good fun. We also visited a few other boats during our stay and just got photos inside them. That was a great night.
Shopping was also blast, I really enjoyed the negotiations. Didnt really buy anything of great significance just a few bits and pieces. I had a few marriage proposals and received alot of free gifts and mum was often asked if she was my sister, this travelling thing really is aging me!!
The pyramids were a highlight as were the many temples we seen. Hurghada and Dahab were also fantastic, I will be returning there again some time in the future. Climbing Mt Sinai was great that was quite a trek and we had to start at around and poor mum was as sick as a dog but she still got up there. Riding the Donkeys to the Valley of the kings also rates very highly on the top egypt experiences, they are so cute...I called mine princess. The best thing about donkeys are that they are like school children in that after they finished work (ie us riding them) they walk themselves home each going there own way and brancing off from one another, how good is that.
I didnt have too much weird food only pigeon which you get b***** all meat on anyway. I quite enjoyed the Omar red wine and the Tahini dip which I will be making when (and if) I get home.
I would love to talk more about Egypt but I have to go to bed as its getting late and Im heading to Florence tomorrow morning. I will do another update on my new love...Italy in the next weeks.
Talk to you all soon.
Ciao
