Hi everybody...
Thought I would just give you all an update on my trip - haven't written since September... Oops:-) but you've all seen my pictures so I havn't been all gone:-)
Anyway, I'm here now and this is what I've been up to...
October: Well, had to say goodbye to quite a few people this month - but that's the life of backpacker. We all end up moving on:-) I spent a lot of time at the beach, partying at Tribal Travel (travel agency) and working... At the end of October we were celebrating Halloween. We were quite a few people from my hostel going out. I was dressed like a zombie and so was Natalie. We ended up winning second prize for our outfits:-) Awesome - a bottle of Jagermeister just for us:-) Fun night. The next day I went to the hairdressers and she ended up cutting a lot of my hair off and gave me a bunch of highlights... it looks really nice:-)
November: I decided that I neede a change of scenery - I'd been in Sydney since August so it was time for me to go somewhere else. My friend Prisca lives in Melbourne. I met her when she was staying at my hostel in Sydney for a couple of weeks. Funny girl. So I decided to go Melbourne:-) Nikki (my Dutch friend) had just lost her job so she asked if she could join me - great:-) It was a long trip - 17 hours on a bus but we made it:-) We checked into a horrible hostel in the city and stayed for two days and then we moved on to St. Kilda "Coffee Palace", which was really great:-) We met up with our friend Alberto who had to leave for Fiji and then back to Canada... another one left:-( When we were in Melbourne we just had as much fun as possible. We saw a lot of things, went to the Zoo and did some partying. Melbourne is a great city...:-) Love it down here... not the weather though - it's very strange here. One moment you are cold and the next it's just too hot... After nine days in Melbourne we finally got our Jucy van and our roadtrip around Victoria and back to Sydney could finally begin:-)
It was so much fun!!! We saw so many things and so many animals... and just so much nature... The best part was when we went down to a city called Sale - that's where we saw koalas in their natural habitat... so amazing to see... but there was a lot of other good things as well... The great Ocean Road, Grampians, Phillip Island, Wilson, Sale, Canberra, caves and a lot of other little things:-) We went back to Sydney because we wanted to be in Sydney for Christmas and New Years:-)
December: When I came back to Sydney I worked for the first week - which was nice 'cos I had spent a lot of money on our roadtrip - but it was worth every single penny (or cent... hi hi) I did a few bartending jobs and then I got a job promoting a new shuttlebus in Sydney with my friends Mash - loads of fun and good moeny:-) But I wanted to earn some more money so me and Nikki signed up for charity. Besides receiving donations for children with cancer we were selling reindeer ears and flashing badges in shopping centers... We had a lot of fun... couldn't have done this job on my own - it would have been too boring so me and Nikki made the most of it:-) we became quite good in the end. We got 15% of everything we sold...
24th December - X-mas Eve: We were a couple of people just eating burritos - not the best x-mas dinner but we worked it:-) and dancing around the plastic tree... I had a smoke (a little cigar for me and a big one for her) and a Baileys with Nikki - that was funny.... we went out to a cafe and had strawberries and met up with Dane from Tribal and had a few drinks before going back to the suburbs... Between Xmas and New Year we stayed at Diego's house (friend from my old hostel). He had a pull out couch in the kitchen... it was okay and cheap:-) we stayed for almost two weeks:-) he saved us a lot of money on rent!!! Awesome:-)
25th December: We went to Bondi Beach for a beach party - ten hours of Dance music - fuuuuuuuuuck!!! too much... but I decided to get smashed instead...:-) Strange way to celebrate X-mas... it never felt like x-mas but it's been so much fun:-) All we did was drinking and dancing for ten hours... great day...
New Years Eve 2009: We weren't quite sure where to go 'coz we knew the Botanical Gardens would be the best lookout but heaps of people would go there. So we went to Edgecliff (just next to King's Cross) and saw the fireworks. It was a great fireworks - so much was going on - simply amazing...:-) But after the fireworks everybody just left... it was like "now we've seen that and then we can go home" - very strange... Again - like with x-mas eve - it could have been any other day of the year... I never got into the spirit of X-mas or New Years... but it was still fun and all:-)
January 2009: A new Year and new adventures:-) Have a lot to look forward too. My friends are getting married and I am able to participate in her bachelorette party in May:-) and another friend of mine is pregnant - so can't wait to experience all this:-) Awesome...
I decided to leave Sydney again. I went back to Melbourne:-) My friend Prisca is still down here and so many other people from Sydney are coming down as well... Awesome:-) So said goodbye to the surburbs of Sydney and took the Greyhound bus to Melbourne... I'm now staying where Prisca is staying. In a house with 30 other people... mostly girls who gets into catfights... Finland vs. Ireland... think Ireland is winning!!! Don't know how long I want to stayin this house... I'm not meeting new people and the people here are very muchinto their own things... so I never stay athome when Prisca isn't here... then I'll go see Harriett and Kristina in the city:-) Nikki is coming back this weekend to live in my house:-) so I'm looking forward to seeing her again:-)
Anyway, before I left Sydney I went to Tribal and me and Mash bought our East Coast package - Whitsunday sailing, Fraser Island, a canoe trip in Noosa (can't wait for that one-sounds like a lot of fun... hihi) and a two-hour surf lessons...We'll do all this in March. I'll fly into Cairns on the 27th Feb and then meet up with Mash and maybe Kristina. Then we'll get a van and drive down the coast:-)
But before I'm going to Cairns, me and Prisca will go to Alice Springs on the 22nd Feb - spent one day and then get on a bus and spent three days seeing the outback and Ayers Rock, lakes and do a camel ride. We'll be sleeping under the stars in swags... can't wait for that:-) then we'll be back again in Melbourne on the 26th:-)
I have changed my flights so on the 1st April I will leave Sydney and fly to Bangkok, Thailand and stay for one month:-) Don't know what to see yet but I'm pretty sure it won't be a problem:-) My friend Harriett might join me for a while as well... that could be hilariously funny:-) And then on the 1st of May I'll return to Denamrk early in the morning:-) Just in time for the "May 1st - party" hi hi...
Well, right now I'm looking for work - got one but I decided not to got - it was so horrible - selling energy door to door in the suburbs far away from Melbourne...
I've been spending a lot of time watching Tennis at Melbourne Park - the first week was free - I went to see the Danish player on Monday - she won. Before that there was an Aussie guy playing - me and Harriett got so much into it - it was so funny... great atmosphere... I've seen so many games so far and it's been amazing... It's been very hot as well, so my nose isn't feeling too well...:-) Don't know if I'm going to any other games - but we'll see...
Well, I guess that's it for now... Everybody - take care and enjoy yourselves:-)
Mette:-)
