Have survived our first outrageously hot and sticky Tuk-Tuk filled day in Thailand!

Arrived late last night and headed straight for Bangkok's Th Khao San; the backdrop to the opening of 'The Beach'. I even bought the book today so that I can travel around Thailand reading it and looking twee!

Today was spent on a crazy Tuk Tuk rides and massive markets...my God it's good to be back in Asia. I can't really think why I ever left! Everybody here is unbelievably friendly and hospitable and deranged behind the wheel. It is unimaginably hot here; riding through the city was like being blasted with a hairdryer! I don't think I have ever sweated so much in my entire life. Very attractive. Holly and Sarah's setting of 'I've got a sweaty back' to the tune of 'I'm bringing sexy back' during their Thai experience was, I now see, all too apt.

Heading North tomorrow...if we can figure out how to catch a train, that is! Hopefully my extensive (extremely extensive) experience of Indian train travel (statistically the most horrifically dangerous in the world, apparently!) will stand me in good stead. I wouldn't count on it, though. That's just the best thing about being on this continent; you never, ever know!
