Day 1: Kawarau Bridge Bungy. 43 metres high. Crystal blue waters below. The world's first bungy site. Original and best.
Day 2: The Ledge Bungy Queenstown. 47 metre freefall. 400 metre drop down to the city. Approached with running jump. Painful!
Day 3: Shotover Canyon Swing. 60 metres to the canyon floor before cutting a massive arc up the other side. Choose your own jump style. Backwards in a plastic patio chair for me. Full somersault on the way down.
Day 4: The Nevis Highwire. 134 metres high. The Daddy. Jump site is a cable car suspended between two canyon walls. INSANE!
We also played an adrenalin pumping round of mini golf on day four; which far outstripped the Nevis for thrills. Awesome.
There were also lots and LOTS of good nights out! Hit the infamous Altitude Bar at Disco Lodge almost every night with Billy, Rahul, John and Rhi; four medical students from Plymouth Uni always up for a good night out or a bungy jump. (Or a canyon swing, of course). The six of us managed to win a $100 dollar bar tab at the quiz on the first night...and then there was simply no turning back. Many teapots full of God knows what were consumed at The World Bar (where they wouldn't play the Jackson Five. b******s) and many late night visits to the glorious Fergburger ensued. Good times.
