This morning we found that it had been raining again during the night. After checking out of the hotel and reloading the car we had a walk down into Perpignan City Centre.
At first we looked for a cafe or bakery to get a little breakfast, but were shocked to find Kabab take aways still open and they seemed to be busy. Don't know if they stayed open 24 hours??? It kept spitting with rain at times but we managed to have a good look around and grabbed breakfast and drinks to go once we found somewhere in the centre.
A little after midday we were back at the car and departed Perpignan. With just under 400 miles to drive for the hotel, just south of Dijon. Just passed Montpellier the sun came out and the temperature started to rise. After a quick stop to rearrange the stuff in the boot, the roof was off and sunglasses on. This however was short lived and within less than an hour it started spitting with rain, luckily just as we approached a services on the A7. At approximately 2 hours away from the hotel we had a full break, with the kids wanting McDonald's and a deal was struck. We'd let them have McDonald's and when we arrived at the hotel, they could watch a DVD in the room with the dogs whist myself and Vicky had dinner in the hotel restaurant. So the kids had the McDonald's, we topped up the car and we cracked on with the journey.Waze diverted us around Lyon due to heavy traffic, it put a few extra miles on to the journey but at least we kept moving. At 20:10 we arrived just 5 minutes earlier than we did last week.
We were given a warm welcome back and the keys to the same room as last week. With the kids and dogs settled watching DVDs we retired to the restaurant, both enjoying a fantastic three course meal with wine. I only wished we had done the same thing last week instead of going to KFC but it was a nice change and we both really enjoyed our evening. In fact so far the whole journey back has been a lot less stressful than on the way down. The kids are better behaved ( probably too excited on the way down) and the dogs have never been a problem anyway and they seem to be enjoying the whole trip. It was then everyone in the shower and we all watched Big Hero 6 in bed!
