Gooday mates! how ya going? hope ur all well. im in Airlie Beach where the sun is shining and theres a great atmosphere with all the backpackers. staying at beaches hostel 27$/13 quid per night. sunbathing at the lagoon which is lovely during the day then spending some nights in the bars! we drink at beaches, moroccos bar then we end up in mamma africas! met lots of new friends and keep bumping into the same friends who we met weeks ago in different places. its weird how we all keep meeting up.
We moved to a hostel named magnums as it was only 18$ per night/9 quid but poor Briana got covered in bed bug bites. we counted over 60 bites. im not sure how but i didnt get bit! our 10 bed dorm stunk of mushrooms and mould it was disgusting! we all hated it but at least it was cheaper. poor B had to wash everything includung her backpack and then put it all in the tumble dryer and killed off the bed bugs! she wa really annoyed and upset cos she was covered in bites. The things we do to save money.
On 26th until the 28th jan we went on our Whitsundays sailing trip on a boat named The New Horizon. I loved it! On the first day we set off at 3pm then sailed for a few hours. we took some lager with us and we all started drinking straight away. there were loads of lagers and goon in the huge cool boxes at the bak of the boat. we set the anchor around 6pm at Hook Island Passage then tea was served - fish wrapped in foil mash and salad and homemade coleslaw! we then carried on drinking and getting to know each other. i met 2 girls from England Jennie and Shana and also 2 irish girls Eleanor and Bernie plus loads of other friends, there were 32 of us all together. We played some drinking games on the night including the Slaps/to get f****d game, tick tick boom and the truth game. I got quite drunk then went to sit with the captain Bluey for a few hours and blagged him until I got tired then I went to bed at 1.30 am!
The second day Dave jumped into bed with me at 6.45am to give me a cuddle and a wake up call! i felt sick trying to get dressed as the boat was moving too much. Went sailing round the Great Barrier Reef and then we stopped at Tongue bay, and the lovely Whitehaven beach where i cleaned my teeth and jewellery in the white sand that felt just like flour! Apparantly it cleans ur teeth to be 2 shades whiter! thats good as it will help get rid of any red wine stains that I may have - i have recently started drinking red wine which isnt actually that bad! No more cider i now drink lager and lime and jugs of it! we also like a good box of goon (local wine that tastes rank but its cheap!). Whitehaven beach is just fantastic. its made of upto 99% silica and is like quartz! amazing! You should google it to see what Im talking about! I put my stinger suit on and had a paddle. there were 4 stingwrays in the water so I got out again! we then had some more food, ham/tuna salad and sailed to Luncheon bay, i went snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef and got to see lovley tropical fishes, their colours were so bright - green, yellow, pinks, purple, neon blue, black and white striped! gorgeous! i didnt see any nemos though but other people did. My snorkelling buddy was Eleanor. No-one is allowed to snorkel or dive alone. Nicole and Briana went scuba diving here for their first time. I couldnt do it as I have asthma and perforated ear drums - boo! Whilst snorkelling I saw a huge fish locally known as 'Elvis' who had massive lips! No i didnt kiss him! We then had a jellyfish fight (the non sting jellyfish of course!) when we were in the small boat going back to the main boat! Poor Russell couldnt get us out of there quick enough while the lads were throwing jellyfish at us! My favourite was served for tea - spaghetti bolognaise and garlic bread! On the night there was a dolphin known as 'Steve' swimming around our boat and also I saw 2 sharks circling around, they werent as big as Jaws though!
The third day we were woken up at 7am, had breakfast then we went snorkeling at Blue Pearl bay. Me and Briana buddied together to snorkel as Nicole stayed on the boat. Russell threw some food into the water and hundreds of fish all swam around us! i was so frightened! i screamed through my snorkel but they were so hungry it didnt scare them away! We saw a strange fish which looked like it had tiger spots on it - wierd. we got back on the boat an hour later then we had more food!
The food was great there was plenty of it which I loved as u know i like my food lol! The cook was Cat - a girl from Durham backpacking who has landed this great job on the New Horizon. The Captain was Bluey who didnt stop drinking the whole time! The dive instructer Dave who was hilarious and kept the party going. He was crazy and also enjoyed a good drink! I loved my sailing trip i didnt wana come back. It was fun being on board and swaying around trying to get showered and got to the toilet without missing the loo or falling over! when we were eating our food kept blowing away it was funny. I got to wear some of Brianas muesli as it blew off her spoon and went down my leg! all good fun though! I want to marry a sailor now and i want my own boat! It cost 319$ around 150 quid but i loved it! Id do it all again! Speak to u all soon il try get my pics uploaded so u can see where ive been. Love to u all love me xx
