I have arrived in Colombia! The flight from Santiago was amazing, I was able to see the changes of landscape from Chile to Bolivia to the green, lush Colombia.

I had the whole day to wait from Sam that is flying from London to meet me and spend 3 weeks in Colombia together.

Once again I got a pretty shabby room at the hostel so after a bit of re-shuffling I moved to a better hotel and waited for Sam.

Bogotá is not surprisingly chaotic, polluted and completely fascinating. We are staying in the area of La Candelaria where most travelers seem to hang out and where the nightlife "rumba" is the best. I ventured out for dinner on a crowded Carrera 19 and I was servedfor only 4 GBP a huge steak, with cheese on top aaand a massive sausage, oh and fries and salad of course, fantastic dinner!

The weather is not great, it has been raining a lot and it's kind of cold, we are at 2600 mt of altitude after all, so we have decided to just take a look at the city from above the next day, have lunch and then head out north toward Santa Marta, which we should be able to reach in 3 days.

What I have learned in 24 hrs in Bogotá:

-Colombians are super super friendly, helpful and smiley. I love them already.

-Bikes and cars and buses, basically anything that moves on wheels has a number plate in the back, the front, the side AND on top!! I don't know why, but I intend to find out. Bikers actually must wear a jacket with their number plate and they also have it printed on the back of the helmet. Crazy.

-Portions are very very big.

-Colombians seems to like their women on the curvier side, I would fit right in here!

-Most food seems to be fried.
