Arrived at our hostel on Lantau Island in really thick fog (a real pea souper!) and rain. Hostel was half way up a mountain making it a lot colder than we thought. Had to spend the first two nights sleeping with all our clothes on and 2 blankets. Hostel was basic to say the least, but for 3 pounds a night you can't really complain!!

First day we went to see the Bronze Bhudda and went on the Sky Rail down into the main town on the island. Found out how easy it is to get around on the MTR (underground) so went over to Kowloon to have a look around. MTR is really good, everywhere's really clean and cheap (and things actually run on time!) We bought an Octopus card which is a topup card for transport so we can go anywhere we want to.

Saw some really nice restaurants in Ngong Ping for dinner but got back there at 6 o'clock and the whole town had closed! Snickers for dinner that night! So went hungry again. Finally got our first proper meal on Friday lunch at the Bulldog Bar and Grill, yum!

Yesterday we came over to Kowloon to our second hostel. Looks like a bomb has gone off just outside the building. We're on the 10th floor and actually room is ok. More like a 1* hotel as we have our own bathroom. No window though and outside our room its like a council block of flats! We had our bags with us yesterday so couldn't do a lot of sight-seeing. Spent all day at the Waterfront walking along the Avenue of Stars, which is their version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame (the only ones we recognised were Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan!). We plan on exploring more of Kowloon today, visiting a few museums and going to the night market tonight.

Weather's a lot better down here than on Lantau. We've seen the World news on TV here, that there are storms battering the UK so glad we missed that! Believe it or not we actually saw a little bit about Big Brother too, Jade gets all the way over here!

We've been very good with the camera and taken quite a few pics, they will be uploaded when we get the chance.
