Been in Agonda for two nights now. Its another beach, about 10km up the coast from the last beach we were at. Arrived here late last night at 9:00pm after a day on trains from Kannur. Lovely beach here havn't looked around too much yet but it's not too busy (yet). Maybe going up to Agonda beach today or tommorrow. Hope everyone is well. Katie and Mark

After a night train we arrived in Kannur today. Its a bigger place than we expected, with lots and lots of army people and army buildings everywhere! We are staying in the Government Guest House which is HUGE and we have a giant room with a giant balcony facing the sea! We got lost trying to find St. Anglo Fort, because each time we found what we thought was the entrance, we got stopped by army guys and told that we couldnt go that way. It also started raining ...

Well, we've had a nice few days in Varkala. The weather was rainy for one day, but been nice and hot and sunny the rest of the time. In between sitting on the beach and being lazy we have managed to find time to have a 3 hour village canoe tour through the backwaters (we saw lots of interesting things like boatmaking, rope making out of coconut husk, prawn farms, and a goat having a bath!) and a visit to an elephant farm this morning where we got to ride an eleph...

The beach at last! This is what a holiday is about! After 3 hours on trains we arrived in Varkala. Lovely beach and looking forward to spending a few days relaxing.
