So…finally I think I have found somewhere with a semi decent internet connection to write something on our first blog entry!

We arrived safely in Jo'berg and promptly took the bus to Nelspruit, the gateway to Kruger National Park. First, we spent 2 nights - celebrating our wedding anniversary - in a very luxurious lodge, overlooking a game reserve and trying to organise car hire and camp sites for our Kruger adventures. Having done all that, we hit Kruger Park - me, the official wild life spotter, in the passenger seat and James behind the wheel. (I had a go at driving, but James quickly tired of staring out the window into the long, dry grass looking for animals that all seemed to be the same colour as the said grass!)

As I'm sure you can imagine, we have now got about 2000 photos of animals - some in the very, very far off distance and some up, close and personal! Some are even of patches of grass where we weren't sure if something was hiding, so took the shot anyway. (It usually turned out to be a log or rock, mostly taken by me!) Of course many photos been taken, the inevitably happened and the camera battery went flat. As we were staying in tents we didn't have anywhere to charge it, after not taking any photos of a spectacular sunset and one of a hyena with a half eaten leg of some sort in his mouth (apparently, a very good spot) we risked leaving the battery charging in the campsite bathroom. Fortunately, all went well and we could take more photos for the remaining days.

We saw nearly everything in the park - it was amazing. A herd of buffalo at a water hole, elephants crossing our paths just before sunset, a lion with a bulging belly, sleeping in the grass, surprisingly close to the road, thousands upon thousands of Impala (deer) and much, much more….the photos will be uploaded to facebook, as soon as we get somewhere where we can get our laptop online!

Unfortunately, we have given up hope on going over to Mozambique as they seriously tried to rip us off with the visas at the embassy, only when it was too late did we find out there is a set price at the border, so we could have gone ahead with the plan. Now we have brought forward our flights to Livingstone, Zambia for Tuesday….so Vic Falls here we come!
