Day 31: Penultimate Day! (Melide to Santa Irene)
I cannot believe that today is the last but one day of the Camino Frances! 29 days ago seems a life time away but at the same time it seems to have passed quickly - the days have all sort of merged together.
After another 32km stint, I now have the relatively short 22km walk into Santiago tomorrow. I will hopefully be there by around 9:30 so that I won't be part of a mammoth queue to get my certificate and final completion stamp (very exciting)!
I arrived at my albergue too early today so I had to loiter around a cafe and wait for them to open. The difference in distance coverage with a good leg is crazy!
The albergue I'm staying in is really nice but incredibly isolated, as a result of that the couple running the albergue have offered to shuttle me off to a restaurant in the nearest town. There are no shops or cafes here so I didn't really have a choice and accepted their lovely offer.
The cafe had a classic peregrino 3 course meal for €10. I had a naughty carbonara to start, followed by chicken and potatos and then an absolutely banging tirimisu!
Back in bed now, I am contemplating shooting the dog that is constantly barking outside my window. I'm super excited about tomorrow, I can get on a bus and wave genially at people walking outside. It's going to be fantastic!
