Tulum- famous for its beachside ruins and turquoise sea, was our first stop in Mexico. Although it's supposedly wet season here there has been no sign of rain here in comparison with the lush green landscape of Guatemala. It's hot here and I now understand why the siesta is required.
We took a trip to dos ojos ceynotes beautiful crystal clear caves to snorkel. It was a surreal experience exploring dark caves with a torch. Some parts of the ceynotes were bright with rays of sunshine penetrating the water, illuminating the water below.
The ruins in tulum are beautiful but as we had thoroughly explored magnificent Tikal and due to big crowds and a scorching sun we didn't spend too long exploring the site.
The beaches are amazing. Clear and peaceful and we managed to find lovely sun loungers where we could relax with cold drinks. Despite our best attempts with the sun we still managed to get burned. One of the hottest places I have ever been!
