It's easy to understand why all the Guatemalan people we met were so keen to recommend a trip to the lago. The closest thing to perfect a person could find.

There are lots of little islands surrounding the lake, which you can take a boat trip to. We took a private boat to Santa Cruz where we ate facing 2 volcanoes and a vast lake. The weather we have been experiencing as been perfect, avoiding the heavy rain normally associated with this time of year.

The pictures say it all really! It is interesting to note however that the lake is rising, and this has been happening for the last few years.
