Travel day and Day 1 of Japan!
05.23 sep 17 my journey started, the time is now 19.50 Japanese time on the 18th. I havent slept yet and this is why. First off this has been the MOST incredible experience ive ever had and its not been 2 full days. flight to oslo was good, 3 degrees in oslo compared to the almost 30 here in Osaka! was served amazing japanese chicken with wasabi spaghetti on the long flight + noodles and whiskey during the wee hours of the mornin.
10.00 am,heavy security at Kansai international airport, no problem. if the heat wasnt the biggest thing to hit me during the first hour, it was a good match with the amazing friendlyness of the locals i approached. But the real kicker was and im not joking about this..its absolutely mind blowing to see how many people live here in such a small space for 120+ million. theres hardly streets there are so many buildings crammed together! what a sight.
14.30. What a difference a few hours will make. City life in Osaka is something i ALLREADY know ill never forget. there is a serious homeless people problem in some parts of town. one of them shouted at me "TOM CRUISE". Walking, walking walking seems to be the theme here. Rooms here are more expensive than i thought (due to a japanese holiday taking place this weekend everything is booked up. I met the sweetest old man who works in a Tiny tie shop with a big neon Union Jack above it (reason i walked in). we had a coffee, talked for a good solid hour and he is now my new japanese bff.
The room im bloging from now is the strangest thing about this trip yet, its that genius. Im litterally in a cubicle, with a flat floor to sleep on, a pc just off the floor with enough space for ny feet under it. i have a small tv and just outside my cubicle are 10ens of others just like it, surrounded by shelfs upon shelfs of japanese dvds and books. i have free internett and free use of a drink machine (super japanese 1million different drinks machine) and i thinkhope its lights out at 12. the atmosphere in this town is almost undiscribable. people shouting at you from all over selling or advertising something. big screens on every corner with insane japanese energy bursting from every pixel. there are people eeeeeeeeverywhere. eeeeeeeverywhere! its okay though, im finally in my box.
This has been the first of many blogs to come, be sure to read, comment and spread the news!
