After a nice long flight from Newcastle-Dubai- Bangkok of about 20 hours with connections i arrived at Bangkok airport.
It was very hot, it wasn't like a dry heat like Doha but what hit you straight away was the humidity much like the Azores.
I got picked up and the driver took myself and three other people to my hotel, Bangkok centre hotel.
They are very big on road tolls here and the drive was pleasant. Bangkok is a huge city and the towering shards of glass are all over the place. I don't know whether it is because of the rainy season but it was pleasant to see a lot of green in the city with trees and plants everywhere not like Doha at all.
I got to the hotel and had a quick rest, I decided to take it easy on my first day and just decided to take a stroll around the local area.
There are loads of little street vendors selling an assortment of different foods ranging from the American hot dog to weird funky stuff I'm not quite ready to try quite yet.
After a while I decided I would get some food, I got some beef dish with noodles and a spicy soup like sauce. They love their spices the Thais it would seem, the man who cooked my food took me to a table to eat and I was given a range of chilli sauces and chillies to have with my food, it was gorgeous but very very spicy.
I then went back to the hotel and slept well on my nice big double bed. Tomorrow is my first official day and I'll meet all my travelling companions, getting excited!!
