The bus ride from Pakse was quite comfortable, normally the buses stop a few times for a leg stretch. Any time the bus stops it is flooded with locals ladies selling many different food stuff, from whole cooked chickens on sticks to sticky rice and chillies. As you'll see from the pics we stick to normal stuff like sweetcorn - yummy!
We only spent 2 days in Savannakhet, we hired bikes and went to the local dinasour museum (strange but true) and saw the oldest Wat in Laos. They have a saying out here, "same, same" and unfortunately this is how we felt about Savannakhet. There wasn't much to see and we are now used to the old french buildings from when they took over so we just decided to spend most of our time in the guesthouse. It turned out to be good fun as we met lots of other travellers who had come from different directions. We spent both nights swapping funny stories and getting and giving advice on what to do and see where we'd all been or were going.
We decided to head straight for the capital, Vientiane next even though it would mean an 11 hour bus journey.
