Hey Everyone! Sept 10th: We finished up the afternoon at the Pearl Market. It's complete madness; 5 floors of Chinese women chasing you down, grabbing your arm and yelling "i give you good price, what price you want?" All in all it was a success but we needed a few tsingtao beers afterwards. We also moved from a private room into a dorm style room with two other couples (one from France and one from Australia) Very fun.Sept 11th: Had a big breakfast in the courtyard outside and then I wandered around Beijing by myself for a few hours while Matt took a nap. It's amazing how you can walk for so long without seeing another westerner. In the afternoon, we set out to find a tapas bar called Bed that came highly recommended by our travel book and a girl from Beijing on our flight. Was a fun adventure to find but totally shady. So we left and ended up going to a beautiful park called Bei Hai and rented a small motor boat and rode around the lake. In the evening we met up with a girl from Scotland and went to see a traditional chinese acrobatics showï¼Afterward, we came back to the courtyard and sat around having beers for a few hours with some new friends from the UK and Canada. It's always really interesting to hear candid opinions from people of other nationalities about pop culture and politics in your own country.
