We left at 4am, the hardest morning of the holiday so far. There were no hot showers in this 'simple' accomodation (just 2 horrid toilets), yesterday's was luxurious by it's standards, even the running cold waster was outside!
First stop we saw an amazing geyser shooting hot vapour out of the earth. It is amazing to think we are so high above sea level, and yet the earth is very thin here. We then stopped at a thermal spring just as getting light with amazing sunise. We did not brave a dip though as the thought of getting out of 30degree water into the freezing air temp was too much that early! We passed many more lagoons some red, some blue some green from all the volcanic chemicals. It is a strange barron landscape here with nothing growing at all. Much harsher landscape then lush mountains in Peru
The rest of the day was a really, really long drive to get back to Uyuni. It was cramped in the back of the 4x4, but we managed to get some sleep despite the bumpy ride and the fierce wind blowing dust about the roads and through the 4x4's airvents. Almost everyone in the jeep had a cold by now, probably from the freezing nights
At 8pm we get on to the overnight bus back to La Paz (we know from last time this will be a bumpy ride too as the roads in Bolivia are not good). We will arrive about 6am, so might have to wait to check into hotel for another, longed for, hot shower and change out of dusty things
