I can't believe that my travels have come to an end. I have been travelling for more than 6 months and tomorrow when I arrive back home it'll be 199 days since I left Sweden, a perfect day to return I'd say.
After my month in Rishikesh I have spent one sweaty week in Mumbai. It isn't even funny, the second you move out of reach of the ceiling fan or walk down the street when there's no breeze on your skin, you're covered in sweat. Everything is just sticky and sweaty and dripping.
In fact, after this week I'm really looking forward to going back home again. I'm longing for some cooler weather where you can actually do something about it. If it's cold at least you can dress accordingly to the temperature, but in this heat you can't do much, because it's not really appropriate to wander down the street naked, is it?
I have mostly done shopping during my week here in Mumbai and it's has actually been pretty fun, despite the hassle, heat and bustle. After four months in India I have got quite a good grip of the haggling art, so I bargained hard while I was doing all my shopping.
I have hardly bought anything on my trip so far, since i didn't want to be carrying any extra luggage, so now when I'm going back home I took the opportunity to go wild on the shopping.
Apart from the heat I quite like Mumbai even though it's a big city. It's so big that you'll find whatever you are looking for here, restaurants, cafés, shopping streets and even some quieter areas where you can enjoy a stroll. It's not only crazy and loud as you might imagine an big city in this big country. I love the fact that it's mostly surrounded by water as well, you get a nice breeze with a hint if saltiness almost wherever in the huge city. It's also nice to be able to go by a little bit more unnoticed, people in a big city are more used to all kinds of people, even something as unusual and shocking as a shorthaired tourist woman. Of course I still get a few curious glances, but at least there's none of the open mouthed goggling. There are hardly any tourists either, at least not compared to the amount of Indians for every foreigner, so you don't get the same tourist desperation you find in smaller touristy places where everyone are dependent on the tourism. Here there are plenty of Indians who'll gladly take a taxi or buy some souvenirs, so I haven't been as targeted as usual. It hit me as weird when I first came to India, finding so many Indian people touristing, but most Indians will never leave their country, so many go travelling in it instead, and many come to Mumbai now since their summer holidays just started.
I stated this trip driving from Germany through Europe down to Morocco. I spent one month on the road in Morocco with Tano and Florian. I went from Morocco to Thailand and spent Christmas and New Years with my family and relatives on paradise islands. Now I've travelled India for four months on my own and also meeting a few friends from home, here and there.
I've had such a trip, I can't even start to explain what I've gone through. I've met so many wonderful people, seen so many beautiful places and have countless unforgettable memories to take with me back home.
Thank you all for this time. See you again soon, beautiful world, I'm not done with you yet!
