gdayyyyyy so, if ya read the last postcard, this one will have unexpected content... im working on a chicken farm, farming chickens lol. in a place called gingin about an hour up the coast from Perth. the holiday inn job wasa no goer as it only offered me about 4 shifts a week and i needed more hours, so after trapsin round the city looking for a job, i went into a job agency and said yes to a place in gingin.. and got picked up an hour later!! managed to get my rent back from the hostel, said goodbye to some really nice guys and gals in billabong hostel, and off we went, with a few belgians, germans and a crazy cocky chicken caning canadian, arent they all (in house joke, canadian watching). we arrived in the dark in the town of gingin (population 800+5), and settled in and crashed out ready for the 5am start. woke up intrigued and we bundled into the minibus.. first thing we had to do was take a shower and go through the quarantine section, leaving everything we had on the other side to stop viruses, i suppose, or maybe they are just clean farmers. but no, the farm had crap everywhere. we got in groups of 4, dressed in our blue overalls and hats and headed into the first chicken shed. 25,000 chickens in each shed.. lots of noise and the smell was even worse than some of josh's farts. seriously! i was the one who had to grab the chickens 3 at a time, hang them upside down and then pass them onto the injection guy who stabs them with flu jabs. then i slam them all into tiny ass cages. ready to be shipped somewhere for something. today i went to another farm, and had to clean out the s*** pit, basically all the crap from all the chickens goes into a big liquidy pit, full of everything.. so i was in there in my waterproofs, face mask and wellies, scooping out crap and dead chickens, then flushing it out with water, and then more crap would come, so id do it again, all day... but weather was hot and sunny so got a bit of tanning in whilst i was dossing. boss was miles away so most of day was spent listenin to music daydreamin about bali... looking forward to tonight, arsenal barcelona champs league final on a t 2.30am, so gona wake up watch that, then work at 5.... pain. but if we win ill be full of life im sure!!!! anyway gota go.. gona take some more showers to get the crap smell outa me... xxx
