Hopefully I can piece these blogs together soon when the laptop and website work together.
We just left Te Anau near the sounds. Its Really lovely here. Set round a lake again loads of snow capped mountains. I reckon I am starting to not even notice them?!
But we are still battling with the rain to make maters worse after a morning walk we return to find our tent has gone along with sleeping gear. Who the hell steals tents?! We report it to the police who were really nice. After a bit of swearing and crying we hire some sleeping bags and get a cabin. I forgot to mention we had just booked on a kayaking trip to camp at Doubtful sound leaving 6.30 am that morning. So little sleep was had and we left feeling very unorganized. Hoping the car would still be there in the car park on Sunday.
The rain was worse than ever on our trip and we didn't leave till late. The place still feels sort of mystical and very beautiful. The rain stopped later and the sun appeared just enough to appreciate where we were. We camped overnight in really heavy rain, still. I am sure the camp could have been washed away. We saw a penguin and some awesome waterfalls the next day. We were the only pair without kayaking experience but on the way back we were separated to help slower people. Doubtful sound is one of those places I am reminded just how amazing the world can be. It was hard work, wet and we were still tired two days later but I am still keen to do some more kayaking?!
The car was still there!
