Although we've seen enough of Ferragudo for this trip and should be moving on, it's convenient to stay one more day. First we are waiting for some e-mails about ferry times. Second we have a restaurant reservation to have a nice meal together before we leave N+G, who are staying in the Algarve for a few more weeks, and start our homeward journey.
February ferries are limited and it boils down to St Malo on the 13th, Santander on the 11th or Bilbao on the 9th. Santander has no wheelchair cabins available and although St Malo is way cheaper the four day dash on tolls and the extra two tanks of diesel help to redress the balance. Ali phones CCC and makes the booking.
Then some entertainment; just as Ali opens the door a young horse trots past, closely followed by two policemen trying to keep up. Horsey runs the other way. Arm waving and yelling and whistling all fail to encourage him to stand still until a van stops and the driver holds out an apple. That does it and seconds later he is walking happily on his tether between two policemen whose faces are red from running, embarrasment or both.
It's just as well we're staying put. No sooner has the circus finished when clouds gather over the mountains and roll towards the port before the sky turns almost black and the deluge starts.
It doesn't last more than 40 minutes then the sun reappears. Nick W takes Ali to the shops on his motorbike then after lunch Ali and Grete walk to the bar in the square with their i-pads for wine-fi.
Early evening we walk back to Fim do Mondo for our last meal together. This time we are better prepared for the portion sizes and make sure we all get more manageable dinners.
The temperature has risen again as we head back to the vans and the recenty washed sky is amass with stars.
