After packing up in the rain we were off, bound for Cactus Beach, only 210 kms away. We farewelled the Ellis's as they were going to be staying in Smoky Bay for a few days for work. Our last three days at Perlubie Beach have been so relaxing but we thought we should get out and see some sights. After breakfast we did a bit of school, which also included the fitness challenge the kids took part in. all the kids loved it. we had to set up six different exercise activities and the kids had to do there best time or amount in each (ie. skipping rope, running round a rock, sit up, etc). After farewelling Sparks and Simone we headed to the nearest big town, Elliston, for a treat. Since we had had the last three nights free camping we decided to surprise the kids with pies and sausage rolls from the bakery. We were ready to hit the road and take the hilly drive back to Adelaide to get supplies before making our way to Port Augusta for a night. The drive was uninspiring with nothing to really look out once you got thru Adelaide. We arrived at Port Augusta late arvo and it was stifling. Thankfully we found a cheap caravan park, $25 a night, so we had power. First thing we did was put the air conditioner on and then l got the washing done. It was dry on half an hour! ...

We said a big farewell to Amanda, Mark, Charlotte and Jake as we don't know when our paths will cross again. It's the worst part of the trip really. You get to know all these amazing families in the road who end up being great mates, then you have to farewell them like you did to your mates back home. You sort of have to remind yourself that this trip was started by ourselves and that we do travel alone for most of of the time..... We arrived at Rapid Bay by ear...
