We have arrived in Rio De Janerio, our first destination. Just so that we don't feel too homesick, the weather is just like the UK - WET! We have sucessfully navigated ourselves around the city a little using the metro, but haven't visited the main attractions of Corcovado, Suger Loaf Mountain or Copacabana beach as the visibility is poor today and it's just too wet. Have met up with Sam Crowley (from Scotland) this afternoon who is working in Rio and we are going out to Volta Redonda with him tonight by bus until tomorrow. It's good to be with someone who knows a bit about the city and can speak a bit of portugese - we did look at our phrase book this morning but had forgotten even how to say thank you just a little while later! This will be all for now as we don't have much to tell but just took the oppourtunity to get on-line while at Sam's appartment.
