HELLO ALL! I'm sorry for the delay in updates, but i've had a couple of brilliant days! After the Niagara experience we left a rainy Buffalo on Wednesday morning, and headed for Baltimore. We had to connect in NY, and flew around Manhatten, check out the album, 'flying into NY' for some amazing shots!
Leaving NY, we boarded a 20 seater prop plane! So loud on the plane! First time I was slightly concerned about flying! We landed in Baltimore, north of Washington DC and headed south to Alexandria!
I've had an awesome three days so far here, on thursday night Sid took me and mike out on a midnight drive through DC! What a treat, we walked over to the White House past all the FBI and took some pictures of the White House, could hardly believe we were stood outside! We also took a ride past the Washington Monument and the Capitol Building!
Yesterday we got up early, well... earlyish, got very comfy beds here at Dianne and Sids. We headed for the National Air and Space Museum! Check out the pictures, we stood right underneath the Space Shuttle, its so much larger than I would ever have imagined! Sid works on one of the aircraft fighter jets in the pictures, check it out!
We headed back - had a nice big stew and hit the baseball! It was so much better than I thought and not boring at all! The Washington Nationals (NATS) were up against the New York METS! And, we saw the NAT's win 4-3! Great atmosphere, chilled out, everyone drinking beer and scoffing hot dogs! After the 7th innings everyone gets up, stretches and sings! Brilliant! And a big truck drives around the pitch firing balls and tshirts out of a cannon! Only 9 bucks a seat too!
Today, we planned to head out and hit the Mall! Washington DC is quite a remarkable place, its not in a state itself, but in a diamond shaped area called the District of Columbia! We headed out on the subway, about 30 mins to the Mall. We walked all the way to the Capitol Building, check out the pics. Next, we saw something amazing, we went into the National Archives of America, and we stood right in front of the Declaration of Independance! Was great to be standing in front of such a massive piece of American History!
We headed across the Mall, about a mile to the Washington Monument, past the pool of reflection, (Forest Gump) and sat on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial! Felt amazing sitting there, looking at such a well known landscape!
Next we headed for the White House! You can't get too close, but still managed to get some top pictures!
Check out all the albums, there is Buffalo/Niagara, Flying into New York, and Washington! Enjoy!
