So, we are now at Kununurra, after completing the Gibb River rd (GRR) shaken and stirred, due to crazy corrugated roads. We added another 500ks of corrugation to venture to the Mitchell falls, spectacular. We snapped our aerial UHF at the first bit of corrugation, and possibly where it was needed most......... Anyhoosenhowsen. We stayed in some very beautiful places, beside rivers etc, some that we ventured into, some not. Freshwater crocs, were in quite a few. Some of our highlights were, Windjana gorge and Tunnel creek, stunning. We also had a great camp with our own rockpool near Mt Barnett gorge. Belle gorge was an absolute favourite for Spencer, who loved jumping from rock ledges into the stunning pools( 8 mtrs) I even managed a jump. Sharon, it reminded me of jumping the cliffs off Wunjo.
Then we were off rattling up the red dirt roads, everything is covered in dust, and up the Kalumburu road to Mitchell falls. We stayed at King Edward river, so Comet could stay there as we experienced the falls and Cultural Art sites,
I couldn't believe the rock art and burial sites.
We then spent a night on the Gibb river , then we stayed a couple of nights on Ellenbrae station, a piece of green lushness on the Gibb. They served scones with jam and cream and we got our fair share.
We then decided to push on to El Questro. We stayed 5 nights and saw as much as the very hot days permitted of hiking into gorges. Lucky there were some beautiful swimming holes as well. As per usual I will send the photos when data permits, I am trying to get all Spencer's schoolwork offline first.
Love to all
