We travelled from Darwin to The edge of Kakadu at the Bark Hut Inn. A rustic place with a pool and the best price of free for the first night and $15 per Site the next..
We used this as our base the next day to go to Ubirr, the most furthest place in the park, so see some incredible rock art, under a 20 metre cliff overhang. The lookout here was spectacular, over the flood plains or wetlands.
Jonah said he can go home now , because he has seen the " Spangled Drongo" a bird with a great name.
We then went to Cahills crossing where we saw crocs lying in wait for a feed of barramundi at the crossing, incredible creatures.
Back to the pool at the Bark hut.
Next day was a drive through to the other end and 2 nights staying ay Mary river roadhouse, so we could explore the other end of the park .it has a pool so all is good in the world. Spencer played with Kobi and Keeley (Sth Aust) in the pool and we swapped destination advice with Luke and Flick over drinks.
Next morning gone early to Gunlom falls, natural infinity pool we had heard about.
Very special place, the boys were straight in the water. The Sth Aust crew turned up for some fun exploring.
Getting hot , so we decided to get back to Comet.
We were told that a yellow snake was in the water after we left, I'm glad I didn't see that swimming towards me.
Lots of bird watching in camp, Jonah gets everyone involved and wanting his app.
Off towards Katherine again for a couple of nights, then we decided to go to Bitter springs instead of Mataranka.Good call, Luke and Flick, we loved it ,we are nestled under the palms and melaleucas.
Pack up and off again, towards Alice Springs using the less travelled route, via the Limmen Nat park. Will be off the airwaves again we think, love to all xxx
