Hello Team,
Well what a busy 12 days we had on the South Island! We started by going to Kaikoura to do some whale watching but unfortunately we encountered our second day of rain in 3.5 months and it was cancelled. So we continued south and went to Franz-Josef glacier where we did a glacier hike for the day, it was awesome and warmer than you'd think.
We then made our way to Queenstown to begin our thrill seeking adventures! First came the 12,000ft skydive over the remarkables (which is a huge mountain range). It was surreal being pushed out of a plane but not scary. The afternoon bungy was a different story altogether, 134m over a canyon! Again its a very weird moment when your head knows that its very stupid to jump off of bridges but for some reason after a man behind you begins a 3-2-1 countdown your body seems to react and before you know it you've thrown yourself over!!!
The next day we went to Milford Sound which is officially the number 1 must see sight of new zealand and the views are amazing but not the best place we've seen, hence it only gets a small paragraph.
We then made our way back up to Kaikoura to try and do another whale watch tour. The day we arrived it was rained off again...so we managed to book on a dolphin encounter where we went out to sea (the cold cold sea) and found a pod of dusky dolphins, slipped on a wet-suit and got in with them, me and Laura agree it was the best experience of our lives, although the dolphins were wild they were so playful. In the afternoon we were tipped off about a group of baby seals which had made their way up river and were playing in the waterfall so we managed to get some videos and pics.
The next day whale watch was a go-go-go! so we went out for a 2hour tour and saw nothing for 1:59 a bit like the tiger safari in India. Then on the way back a huge sperm whale was spotted and we managed to take some photos and see it dive back down to the ocean floor.
