So we have made it across the width of Asia from one ocean to another!!
The last few days we have been continuing on our journey through India, after Bharatpur we travelled to Jaipur. We went on a visit to the Amber Fort which is in Amber just outside Jaipur. It is a pretty big fort set on a hillside and is quite picturesque, there were elephants that tourists could ride up to the fort but they looked a bit sad (not as happy as the ones in Chitwan) so we just walked up. The first part of the fort has quite a lot to see including a room totally covered in lots of little mirrors which could give you a very bad headache, unfortunately the further you got into the fort the less there was to see. Needless to say we got hassled by touts and came up with as many daft answers to their questions as we could to keep ourselves entertained. Also a kid tried to sell Mark something (can't remember what now) and Mark confused him by showing him his bendy finger trick; Mark 3 Kids 1.
After a trip to the fort we went to the Jantar Mantar which is a garden in Jaipur with lots of astronomical instruments built by a guy between 1727 and 1734 it was totally awesome alhtough slightly surreal. It can tell you all sorts of information if only we could understand it!
We also visited the palace museum which had a massive display of weapons; this is the place to come if Zombies attack.
After Jaipur we got on another train (3 hours late this time) and arrived in Jodhpur.
Jodhpur is known as the blue city mainly because most of the houses are painted blue which looks really cool. We stayed in a lovely 370 year old Haveli with a nice family and some nice staff. Jodhpur is the most relaxed city we have visited in India and we didn't really get much hasssle from people at all most of them just wanted to say hello or shake our hand.
The fort at Jodhpur has a really good museum with lots to see and some beautifully decorated rooms we also heard a rumour that Hollywood star Jackie Chan had been there that morning, unfortunately we cannot confirm this rumour although we did have a good search for him. Jodhpur is a really nice city and there always seems to be a party or wedding going on at all hours of the day and night.
We then travelled to Udaipur which is a city set around Lake Pichola. Looking out over the lake there are two islands one of which is the Palace Hotel (very expensive and used in Octop**** . There is also another fort overlooking the lake which has another museum in it, not as good as the other ones though and the whole palace seems a bit run down which is a shame because it could be very beautiful. We went on a boat ride around the lake and then ate some cake.
We are now in Mumbai after arriving here from Udaipur and before we head off to another continent which will be weird after being in Asia for a while now.
