Hey All,
Hope you're all well.. Your probably wondering what I've been doing since I got to Melbourne.. been here nearly 3 weeks now- officially the longest I have stayed in one place since I became a 'traveller'. I am starting to become civilised again.
I stayed at Lou's for the first week and a half, found a reception job on first day and stilll here at the moment, bt it is only a temp job - I have about 2 weeks left and I have to find another job. Which i absolutely cannot wait for! I am so bored here- and my main priority is answering the phone- which i bloody hate because it doesnt stop ringing! A couple of the staff here asked me if i wanted to stay on, and i was like, oh i think it would be unfair to stay on because im not in melbourne that long
The company is actually quite cool though- its a construction company that builds houses from scratch just the way the clients like it. The prices start from AUD155,400 and even the finer details are sorted out here- taps, tiles etc. There's a young girl , she's 21 who's doing this on her own!
A great perk is that i get to shop online, looking at all sorts of clothing websites- it makes me happy. Hey did you know you cant browse Primark clothes online?! gutted. I am more upset because Louise is visitng England for 2 weeks and she is going to Primark and gonna buy herself lots of lovely cheap things
Cant wait to get home for that!
Ok anyway, I now have two jobs- after my reception job I work 2 hours a night / 5 days a week in Lou's restaurant helping out, drinks/food etc. Its called EQ in the Art Centre. I usually walk from one place to the other which takes me about 45mins. Which is nice and healthy (then i ruin it with a MacD's on the way home). The restaurant is cash in hand- no tax which is nice, and I get a free drink after every shift- which for 2 hours work isnt bad. I really enjoyed it last week and then just the other night this gay midget annoyed me with his stupid fairy remarks and so if he says anything again Im probably just gonna walk out.
(Dont worry I can look after myself)
I have been in my apartment , which is 5 mins from centre, for just over a week. Its a really nice place with free gym and pool access and free internet- which is the most important coz i have spent so much on the internet since ive been here. Im living with 7 other people, mostly British, one guy- who's gay. And none of them tidy up- apart from one other girl from Manchester. (Yes Ciaro i think other people are messy and i like tidying up).
Its so strange, it doesnt feel like Im travelling anymore- I am actually living and working in Melbourne. Paying rent and allsorts. Its so different from Cairns. Feel world knowledgeable. haha.
I have missed home a lot this week, i guess its being in a new place, with strange people.
Ive used the gym once too! Would love to use it more but i literally have no time.
The weather is pretty good but obviously gets cooler by the time i finish work, but considering its autumn here its still like early 20's. (British hot summer)
Loads of people love my accent (i know weird right?) some aussies even recognise where its from because they have a mother/ grandmother from manchester, etc. And the other day this client phoned up about a house she's building with us, and i recognised a northern accent and was so excited. She was from Hull and we had a good 10 min chat.
Anyway take care, speak to you all soon.
Hugs and kisses x

P.S the picture is of Flinders Street Station, it actually looks like that and is 2 mins from where i work.
P.P.S The Aussies call bedlinen, cotton sheets etc 'Manchester', because of the cotton industry in Manchester i think. So, walking along aisle 8 saw a sign for Manchester and tried to get home- ended up in a pile of cotton. Wasnt a magic wardrobe after all.
