Well Well Well What a day we have had today. We told you to watch this space. Arrived at Fox Glacier this morning at around 10am and chanced our arm at getting on the HeliHike in the afternoon. Well someone was on our side and we managed to get the last 2 places of the day!! After a safety brief and fitting of boots we were off in the helicopter for the short ride up onto the glacier and Mel managed it without throwing up all over the helicopter like in Vegas!!!...

After having boiled eggs for breakfast we left a wet Westport for the 100km drive to Greymouth, the biggest town on the West Coast. On the way we stopped at Punakaiki to see the Pancake rocks at Dolomite Point, these are limestone rock and mudstone that have been eroded away over many years and have formed various different shapes one of which is a hidden face and another is a fish!!!! Had our free mammoth breakfast this morning before heading off South west for Westport. The drive took about 4 hours with a few stop offs. The first was Lake Rotorua and the start of the Southern Alps, it was very tranquil and picturesque. We nearly hit 2 loose sheep that were on the road and had to swerve to miss them, which is a shame as it could have been Roast Lamb for dinner instead of pie and peas!!!! Set off this morning on the Queen Charlotte Drive to Nelson, the views on the way were amazing rolling hills and beautiful bays that took your breath away. Needless to say we stopped off plenty along the way for photo opportunities and to take in the views.
