After an overnight bus journey from cusco we arrived in Huacachina, a small town situated around a lagoon surrounded by desert sand dunes, less than 100 people live there. We got a tourist bus from Puno to Arequipa - only 4 people on board. The guide told us we would have to swap buses half way as the bus wasn't going to Arequipa.
