We decided to stay in the town of Fort Worth, not too far from Dallas, which is also known as Cowtown! The first night we were there we headed downtown on the bus, but got ourselves in a right mess and spent a couple of hours riding buses in every direction apart from Downtown! When we finally got there we went to Sundance Square, the entertainment district and had dinner, whilst listening to Country music! We were really excited to see people (and they weren't even tourists!) wearing cowboy hats and we even heard a couple of Yeeehah's!!
The next day, we finally made it to downtown, after getting the buses wrong again!! We looked around the Sundance area then took another bus to the Stockyard District. There we visited the Cowboy Hall of Fame and took a walking tour of the old stockyards and the Collesium and Stock Exchange. The tour ended in Billy Bob's which is a HUGE bar with live bull riding on a weekend. There's a saddle covered in Rhinestones (the same saddle used by Dolly Parton in the film Rhinestone) that is used as a Disco Ball. They have many famous acts visiting Billy Bob's and you can see their hand prints on display. We then went to see a live Cattle Drive, which was more like a parade put on for the tourists twice a day, of the cowboys and their Long Horn cattle. Afterwards we went to the Stockyard hotel to try their Buffalo Butt Beer which is brewed exclusively for the hotel and was very tasty - although the glasses were so big and heavy it felt like excercise! We met some teachers from El Paso (near the border with Mexico) who made us do shots of Tequila, we passed the test and were made honorary Texans!
