On Friday 8th March we got up early for breakfast and went out for the day with the hockey girls. We drove to Katoomba to Echo Point lookout which has a fantastic view of the Three Sisters. In our last game in the heats we lost 2-1 to New Zealand. In the bronze medal play off against Australia we lost 4-2. We were sad not to win a medal but overall really pleased with our performance. Everyone was shattered after playing 7 games in 9 days in high temperatures. At the end of the last game I got hit in the mouth with the ball and split the inside of my lip. In Old Parliment House we found a room with costumes for dressing up. We couldn't resist trying them on. We had great fun and looked really good.

As well as playing hockey we have also managed to see some of the sights in Canberra. It is easy to get around the city using public transport. We went up the Telstra Tower and enjoyed 360 views across the whole city. We also visited the Old and New Parliament houses on Capitol Hill. It was a lovely morning out with Jan, Jane and Dee.

In the first round of the tournament we played England, Australia and New Zealand. We lost to England 3-0, Australia 1-0 and New Zealand 4-0. It was hard playing in the heat as the temperature was about 27 degrees. We are all getting used to the hot weather and it is nice to watch some of the matches in the sunshine.
