We spent a couple of days in Hanoi sightseeing, visiting museums and anywhere else with air-con! Hanoi is very noisy and crazy! We took a boat trip to Halong Bay and Cat Ba Island where we enjoyed swimming, kayaking and hiking in the spectacular surroundings. After a gruelling, smoky, uncomfortable 15 hours on the overnight bus from Kunming we finally arrived in Hekou at the Chinese border. We also had to contend with "The Weasel" at Kunming bus station.
