So here I am in Chaing Mai! it has been quite a day! the coach arrived at some place in the middle of nowhere and we got out and then this lady came and got us all into these trucks and took us to the centre of chiang mai, well sort of, its a little bit out of the centre. its really nice and quiet and cheap! and there is a pool... its very small and very dirty, but never mind! oh and it has HOT WATER!!! had my first hot shower in ages this morning, it was nice!

So we checking in and stuff and they told us all about the tours they do and what there is to do around here. I already prefer it to bangkok becuase its much less busy and more a real thai experience. We went to a hill tribe museum this morning which was pretty cool.... but I will tell you more about the hill tribes once I have been to visit them! I am going to visit the long neck tribe tomorrow.... you know the ones that wear all the big hoops around their necks and make them really long! and also going to see the "big ear" tribe, but not quite sure about that one!

So yeah anyway, after wandering around there for a while we went to get some lunch and we realised that we were in the middle of nowhere, and we had told the tuk tuk not to come back for us! big mistake! Its quite funny that all of my interesting stories involve me getting lost! but yeah, we started walking and then decided to eat before we started looking around again. This absolutley crazy thai girl came over and started almost groping Kate! and like leading her towards this barbeque thing with fish on it, she didnt understand any engluish, and neither did anyone else either! but we managed to ask them for some rice and they brought us some which was actually really nice! and the crazy thai girl came and sat with us and was sayinbg strange tyhings!

so after that we started to look for tuk tuks again... to no avail. ad everywhere we stopped to ask for directions, or help or ahything, noone spoke english! eventually we got to a little restaurent that had a few thai business men in it, and they started trying to help us, and one of them tryed to phone our guesthouse, and then the waitress got her aunt on the phone who spoke english and kate told the aunt that we were lost, and eventually after ages of not knowing what to do one of the men took us in his car back to the town centre. it was so nice of him! and it really shows how nice and kind thai people are. he wouldnt even accept any money! and I felt really bad becuase I didnt know how to talk enough thai to show my gratitude! i just said thankyou loads of times and hoped he understood!

and now we are relaxing, maybe going to a temple later, depending on how tired we are... currently very tired as I didnt really sleep well on the coach. but my room here is very nice and i will definitaly sleep well tonight!
