Well Mike Hunt i leave it up to you to start an interesting topic of conversation on this 'ere site. For example, who do you think will perish first - James Percy (pie) fighting crocs, drop bears and the occasional horny nyungar out in the bush just east of Perth, or Chris Maclean fighting the relentless ratrace and the occasional great white on the east coast.

wow, this msg board has dried up faster than your women Chris!

Barely Legal
well whilst it may seem rosy Chris, you will not believe the good times you're missing back in this most beautiful of countries. It is snowing and has been for a few days, not really enough to settle properly but enough to mean i have to defrost the car in the morning before work. Ahhh work... Yes my beloved company have docked me two days pay for too much illness (being blinded and nearly breaking an ankle and screwing up my ligaments anyone?!?!!). The pay is excellent: an amazing thing happened the other day where by i was shopping in Tescos and i actually bought something that wasn't Economy Value. it was only a packet of crisps but the longest journeys start with just a single step. Pretty soon i hope to progress to paying for everything rather than paying for half and nicking the rest. Due to the extreme weather, all my dodgy friends have disappeared with their oh-so-nearly-legal herbal remedies and i find myself sober as judge in the evenings of late which is depressingly poor. It's been suggested i try alcohol but it's never really been my bag. Baby.
The Gambian Contact
Well that's grand. It sounds fantastic that you've got this new job and promotions may go from tying his shoeloaces to buttoning his shirt or perhaps even tying his tie - lots of prospects. I think I might even be tempted to come out when I've finished out here. I can't wait to sit round a fire and sing Rolf Harris songs all night long.
However, I'm heavily into the present now. Life is incredible out here. Teaching pretty boring subjects at my school (Science and Maths)to 12-15 year olds, however I'm playing loads of sport and obviously caining them on the football pitch with my blinding talents. I've tried teaching them a bit of cricket, but they weren't having any of that and ended up kicking the tennis ball around and trying to make it into a football match. Everything is dirt cheap, I'm eating lots of African food in the African style (one bowl between 8 and right hand only). We are going as a team further down the coast for a weekend. The last team went there last year and said that all they met was one cow amongst the white sand and palm trees, so I'm really excited about that. The only thing that's bad are all the bumsters where I'm living giving me endless hassle and it's difficult to pretend I'm not a tourist when I'm walking down to the beach ewveryday in my swimming trunks and towel. "No I don't want to smoke your weed or sleep with your wife Binta!"

Well well well.....it would seem that this dream job hasn't vanished like a mirage before your eyes and that you really are living the life of JAMMY b******!!!No really though, nice work and replacing the smoking with some morning surfing is a definite lifestlye improvment.
As for me, things are moving along really well. Me and Jan met up with some more roaming europeans and are now travelling in a convoy of three vehicles around NZ. Two german fillies, a perculiar (but funny) Austrian guy and a Swedish guy I met in Perth and also saw again in Brisbane......small world eh!
We've just spent a week travelling up the west coast and camping out in the wild. After Abel Tasman National Park we're now back in civilization in Nelson and setting sail for the North Island in 2 days. Well great to hear things are going well for you and keep on enjoying Bondi life.....sweet as man!!
