Chris n' Mel in Thailand
Hi all
So after waking up feeling ever so slightly hungover, from the boxing match and then clubbing till 5am, Mel and I had to pack our gear asap and get to Chiang Mai airport for our flight. All seemed ok untill 10 minutes before our flight was scheduled to board it was cancelled, ahh well not a big deal or so we thought.... till after a monstrous 4 hours of joining various queues to try and get a flight to be told time and time again to try a different one. We eventually got so narked that we refused to move untill this poor scared little thai man sorted us a plane.. Which he did woo hoo!!! Hop skip and a wobbly plane later we arrived in Bangkok and ran to catch our flight to Krabi. After the first plane we were feeling a bit rough and this one it seemed was made out of straw and we both got slightly anxious, but thank god it was over pretty quick and we touched down in Krabi Airport.
Got our Taxi to a place we had seen in the trusty Lonely Planet called Chan Cha Ley (nice place) and then had a bit of Grub at a nearby restaurant and headed off to bed, no big drinking that night as we were knackered...
The next day we woke up feeling rested and raring to go, so decided after a bit of a wander to visit the Tiger cave temple which is a wat situated at the top of a massive mountain.. got there and climbed the 1237 steps via the army of monkeys that barred our way, one of which leapt from the trees onto my backpack and being the man i am fought it off, i did not however scream like a girl and throw the bag to the ground untill mighty joe young left me be... honest!
Just as things started to get a bit hairy, we were saved by what can only be descibed as a grubby version of Lassie who bounded around us chasing away the monkeys untill we had a clear path up to the top.
The views from the top were awesome (will load pics soon) and after a brief rest headed down the precarious steps, luckily our taxi dude was there waiting when we got back and we headed home for a well deserved shower then beer (s)
Had a chilled out time for a while and left mel in the internet cafe to update the journal and i was in the hostel having a Chang beer when an American guy came up to me and said that, and i quote "Mother Goddess told me to come and speak to you, is that ok?" I was slightly freaked out but decided that It was too good an opportunity to laugh at a crazy man so invited him for a beer and sat down while he regaled me with tales of how the US government had conditioned him when he was a baby by plugging him into a computer and turning him into a super soldier and how he was tuned in to the lands energies and could commune with most living beings, and also the spirit world oh yes! it was great - I almost peed myself when he explained that he had had Schizophrenia for 18 years but was now cured - yeah right!
By the time Mel got back i was a bit worse for wear and as she had had no beers that night we wandered off in search of a bar, played pool with some thai people for a bit and staggered back to the hostel as we were heading off to Ao Nang the next day (We will finally get to see a beach) We are soo happy about this and are looking forward to chilling out for a while...
