Mike Day 1: The bus arrived in Khao San Road at 5:45am and we found our hostel was an easy walk from the drop off point. Alicia : Day 1: Once at the border, we took the long-boat crossing over the Mekong from Huay Xai to Chiang Khong which took only a few minutes. Mike: Day 2. The early flight from Bangkok meant we had to leave at 4:30am even though our flight wasn't until 7:00. The flight time was only an hour and once we'd landed in Surat Thani and picked up our luggage we bought bus and ferry tickets to Koh Samui.
