So im offically a 'Mooser' again. I arranged to travel from Jasperto Banff via the Moose as despite the greyhound being free owing to my pass, it would have gone the long way through Edmonton and Calgary taking 12hrs so I paided $70 (50 pound) to travel with the Moose as it goes the short, scenic way (through the Rockies), stopping off at a number of sightseeing spots and only taking 7hrs.
So I jumped on the bus and we set off for Banff, stopping at Athabasca falls, Glazier, Bow lake, Peyto Lake and then also hiked up Sulphur mountain (tell you mare about that nightmare later) and also went to a ice hockey match in Canmore. So again an awaesome action packed day. The sights were awazing, again took some great pictures of the mountains, and turquoise green lakes.
It had been snowing in Banff so there was a few inches of snow covering the ground, adding to the beauty of it. After stopping at the great sights on the way from Jasper to Banff, we thought it would be a good idea to hike up sulphur mountain (a ski mountain, which usual, sane people get the gondola up, as it is a 7km hike to the top). So we set off on our 'short' hike. The path started off as a gentle incline and gradually got steeper and steeper and the further up we got the more slippery and the deeper the snow got. So being a typical Brit, I thought this hike would be no sweat and thought my trust trainers would get me to the top-oh how little I know. The further up we got the more slippery it got and for every step I climbed I slipped back three steps. We finally got the top with only minutes to the spare as we were just in time for the last gondola back down, if we had been just 2 minutes later we would have missed it and been forced to walk the full length back down the mountain.
So after all that exercise and trauma I felt I deserved a good meal and a pint or two-and boy did I eat like a fat american.
After a great meal we thought whilst in Canada, do as Candians do and we went to Canmore (a nearby town-20mins drive) to watch a ice hockey match. It was so brutal-I loved it!!! So all in all a great first day.
The second day I spent with two English girl and we decided a day of rest was in order, so we went to the natural hot spring on sulphur mountain. Well when I say natural hot spring, what it is actually is a cabin set high in sulphur mountain, with a swimming pool that filtered natural hot water that runs from the mountain. And as in the name sulphur mountain, despite the water being filtered it still smells of sulphur, thus, has a odour similar to eggs-nice!!! But despite it being very touristy, it was so beautiful and relaxing. The hot spring water is like stepping into a hot bath, about 40 degrees. Being so hot, set outside, high in the mountain, temperature outside about -5, causes the steam to raise. So we sat relaxing in the hot springs taking in the beauty of the mountain, watching the snow fall around us. It was so amazing, and so chilling, top with the fact that the place was virtually empty despite us and some hotties. So again had a great day. And to top it off we ended up meeting up with the hotties in a club after. And ladied they were military men-yummy!!!
The next day we went horse riding in the dense forestry and around a beauty lake. Then later hiked around the most amazing lake called-get this-wait for it-MINNIWANKA!!! Go figure, and the Canadians dont get why we found it so funny. They have also called a large city near here Regina, which they pronounce as Rigina so when you say it quickly sounds like the V work (womans front end-you know what I mean)-te, he!!!
So after just 3 days in Banff I decided it was time to move on as Banff is a great place and has so many beautiful natural wonders but there are way to many ski/boarding DUDES', and really do your head in as they all look like that need a good wash and some clean clothers that actually fit them, not hang off their arse.
So im off to Sin City-Las Vegas, lets see what sins I can get up to there.....
