Napiers Travel Around The World in 50 Days
Sadly this is our last day in Hong Kong. Met up with Kathleen and Pat last night. Took the star ferry over to Hong Kong - 10 minute crossing - got a bit lost trying to take a short cut through the shops! However found them at the Kowloon Hotel on Nathan Road (very posh but they don't have heated loo seats) Had a great night with a meal and lots of newsing(Aberdonian for catching up with the gossip) at a place called Hooters, we visited the one in Singapore as well when we were there. Lots of photos, so much that we missed the ferry back to the island, cost us a taxi HK$129 instead of the $4 ferry ride but what the hell $12.50 to the pound so it wasn't bad.
Up early agin this am as we were doing the Island Tour. Taxi to Excelsior hotel for pick up at 8.50pm. Kathleen and Pat managed to get on the same coach so we had more time with them which was nice, its always nice to see someone from home, and more newsing.
Our trip took us to Aberdeen where we had a sail rounf the harbour on a fishing boat, weather has not been to good here, raining and rather cold, but as it is in Scotland, colder in Aberdeen!! Then on to ANOTHER jewellery factory and Kathleen persuaded me to make a purchase, we both bought Chinese year Zodiac pendants, with diamonds of course. Next stop Stanley Market, shops and stalls galore and they do a great deal in oversize suitcases!!! Highlight of the tour was to be the journey up to the famous peak. Unfortuantely the mist was like Aberdeen har and we couldn't see a thing, very cold so all we wanted was a hot coffee, and the loo. Ah more shopping, well is was far to cold to be outside. Meeting point was at the tram station where we took the finnicular railway back down to the lowest point of the island, great fun. we extended our room check-out to 3pm so we could pack and have a shower, we arrived back at 2.30pm and in marathon time pack changed and vacated the room by 3.05pm. David has gone to find a chemist, his eye is very red and he is needing drops, so I thought I would get on with this. Hope you enjoy the photos, due to the weather not as good as I had hoped, but we both have wonderful memories of Hong Kong. Sis I think we should make this our destination for Xmas Shopping instead of New York, see what Kenny says!! love to you all. xx
